China’s world No. 1s Ma Long and Liu Shiwen were awarded the Male and Female Star Awards respectively in the 2019 Star Awards ceremony on Wednesday. The event was held by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) in Zhengzhou, capital city of central China's Henan Province.

Ma, the current Olympic and World Champion, received his third Male Star Award after 2015 and 2016, while Liu won her second since 2015.
Xu Xin, though defeated by Ma for the male award, was given the "Star Point of the Year" with fellow Chinese Fan Zhendong. Xu beat Lin Yun-ju of Chinese Taipei to claim the men's singles title at T2 Diamond Singapore last month.

Puerto Rico's Bladimir Diaz won the Star Coach Award and Lily Zhang was the breakthrough star of the year.
